A rare and highly collectible Louis Vuitton x Stephen Sprouse Graffiti Pochette Accessoires from the original Spring 2001 collaboration, created during Marc Jacobs’ tenure as Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton in collaboration with American fashion designer and artist Stephen Sprouse. The groundbreaking collection transformed Louis Vuitton’s traditional Monogram canvas with Sprouse’s rebellious, hand-drawn graffiti lettering and is now regarded as an important early example of the luxury fashion and artist collaborations that followed.

This vintage Pochette features the house’s classic brown Monogram coated canvas overlaid with white/silver-tone Stephen Sprouse “Louis Vuitton” graffiti, finished with brown leather trim, gold-tone hardware and a slim detachable leather shoulder strap. The compact zip-top silhouette is lined in brown textile and dates to the original 2001 Sprouse collection, rather than Louis Vuitton’s later 2009 tribute collection. 

Condition

Great vintage condition, particularly considering this piece is approximately 25 years old.

There is expected age-related wear throughout, including gentle rubbing and darkening to the printed surface and piping, patina and wear to the leather elements, and surface wear/tarnishing to the gold-tone hardware. The leather shoulder strap shows visible rubbing and wear along its edges, consistent with use and age.

The interior has two small stains and has light wear throughout, see photos.

Please note that the pull tab on the gold-tone zip is missing, as photographed. The zip itself remains present.

Comparable documented 2001 examples carry French AR date codes.
